Keep the posts coming Brett and Michael, My Threadless Submission, And a Statement On Episode Gallery

Dear students. For sometime now, I believed that blogging was just a narcissist's way to show the world just how narcissistic he/she was. AND although there maybe a twinge of that on my behalf, this blog has become more of a way for us to stay plugged into web 2.0, etc. A way for like-minded individuals to share experiences, or just weird web content. Whatever the case, I'm starting to sound like an altruistic hippie-type and I going to go kick my ass. But before I do, I just want to give props to Brett and Michael for keeping the blog alive over break and it's my hope the rest of my classes will participate. Or maybe not. I could be just pissing in the wind.

Speaking of narcissism, Threadless posted my shirt for voting.

My Threadless.com Submission

Once Upon a Time in the Midwest is an art show that showcases galleries around Cincinnati. I have been asked to write about the gallery I've been a part of named Episode.

I love and hate writing. Whenever I have to write for something fine-art related, I hate it. It always comes out sounding pretentious and convoluted. Sometimes it detracts from the art that you are viewing. I believe that an artist's statement should be tucked away, far from the art. That way it doesn't influence your viewing experience. Regardless, here is what I wrote about Episode...

When asked to write a little blurb about Episode Gallery, my picture "Karen", and the Midwest, it was not an easy task. After much deliberation, I decided to take the route of William Burroughs' non-linear style and I wrote a word on a slip of paper, and another word on another slip, (and so on) dropping each into a straw hat. From many words, I would make random sentences; each of no greater or lesser value. Sentences with words like: house, vibrancy, music, new-methods, community, friendship, among others. After some-time the hat became full. and I would need a larger hat and a safe place to put it.
